12 Winter Ayurveda: Tip #1, Hydrate!

Hey there...I wanted to share how my work is growing and evolving. Yoga gave me a glimmer of what was possible, but it was working with a mentor and coach that created the greatest impact for me. It was my work with her that has helped me change my self sabotaging behaviors and get my family and my life back as I heal my immune system. After teaching yoga for almost 10 years I wanted to help my students feel as good off the mat as they did on it. Becoming an Ayurveda Health Coach is my answer.

As I learn to embody this new identity I’ll be sharing the 12 Winter Tips of Ayurveda for the next 12 days(!). PM me with any questions you may have.

Tip #1, Hydrate! In Ayurveda, we take hydration very seriously. Start each morning with one to two cups of warm to hot water—hydrate before your coffee. And keep sipping throughout the day.

When it's cold out…we aren't as thirsty. Our bodies still need the same amount of water from summer into winter. As the season shifts we forget to keep hydrating. Dehydration in winter leads to a cold or flu. Fill a thermos with hot water and carry it with you throughout the day. Add a slice of lemon, or a few pinches of cumin in if you don't have thirst. Ginger slices are my favorite, it provides extra warmth from the inside. Sip hot water every 20 minutes. Refill your thermos 2-3 times a day. Keep track. Notice how good if feels to stay fully hydrated (and warm) from the inside out.
