About the event
When we step onto a growth path we are taken on a healing journey.
As we reclaim our power we start to “recover ancestral memories, (we) also uncover unconscious, troubled (patterns) that prevent us from knowing who (we) are. According to the Vedic sages, we humans are the only species which has the power of intuition. Yet too easily we forfeit our sacred birthright and with it the ability to change and grow, create, and strive for inner freedom. We have largely forgotten the joy, love, and wellness that are intrinsic to human nature.” From Maya Tiwari.
The Ayurvedic practice of Tarpana gives thanks and blessings to our ancestors and lineage. It is said that by doing this we can ease the journey of their souls and also help to mend the familial memories and patterns that trouble us (and them).
As modern humans most of us don’t create the time and space to honor our ancestors and the troubled cycles continue. Our dharma, our lives, even our children’s and partner’s lives are influenced by these patterns when we don’t take the time to process them. This two-hour workshop gives us the time, the space, and the know-how to start processing these patterns.
Together, we will make an offering of uncooked rice, water, light, incense, and flowers to represent the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether). The ceremony includes meditation and mantra. We will also practice breathing and light yoga to resource/ground ourselves along this journey.
***Please bring any pictures or personal belongings of your ancestors for our temporary shrine. Come prepared with pen, paper, and comfortable clothing. You will also receive an email prior to our ceremony with journal prompts to prepare you.
